Arnold Scolds Detroit Automakers For Being Wasteful. Next On His List: Kettles

This video clip of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger chiding Detroit automakers for being profligate and slow to change while patting himself on the back for providing incentives to keep electric car maker Tesla in the state is so laden with delightful hypocrisy that it's almost sublime.

Honestly, Arnold is in no position to criticize anyone, whether government agency or corporate entity for screwing up.

If he'd been beating the electric car drum ten or even five years ago, he might have actually succeeded in looking like he had a "vision."

Instead, the timing and content of his lecture to the Detroit Three smacks of scoring cheap political points at their expense at a time when his ship of state is taking on water and heeling heavily to starboard.

Fox News (of course) just can't get enough jailbait



Whether it's compromising photos of Cyrus, other-Disney princess Vanessa Hugens, or the indiscretions of over-21's like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, or whoever, the media and by association the public never seem to get tired of making dramatic *gasps* and then saying in a stage whisper "Can you believe it?" All the while running the images over, and over and over. Hypocrisy used to be the tribute that vice pays to virtue, now it's a way to chase ratings by running underage nudie pics on Network TV.



The media always acts so shocked when celebrities prove that they're as capable of being drunk, horny, or just plain thoughtless as anyone else.



There was a time when it was easier for celebs to stay on their pedestals. I have to wonder: if the apex of their careers had been in a time of 24-hour gossip news channels, the Internet, tabloid bloggers, and (most importantly) camera phones, would Doris Day have been able to maintain her squeaky clean image, or would Rock Hudson have managed to stay in the closet? I have my doubts.

Heather Mills McCartney, who is reportedly seeking millions of dollars in her breakup with Paul McCartney, denounced the world's rich as misers and snobs Wednesday.

Mills McCartney said she was reluctantly obliged to befriend the world's wealthy because that was the only way to maximize her power as an agent for change.
"Sadly, you have to mix at a certain level of people to raise the level of funds you need to bring about the greater good," she said. "Because people are very snobby. These people who have lots of money, they're either snobby or they're stingy. If you have lots of money, you have to be stingy — because why would you want that amount of money?"

Of course, "bringing about the greater good" translates as "redistributing wealth" because Heather Mill McCartney's fortune being smaller than any other fortune would be inequitable.

I was unaware that social climbing ex models could be considered agents of change. She's not exactly a Zapistata hurling firebombs.

Personally, I think that she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
