A Wailing And Gnashing Of Teeth

Nobody who reads finance blogs can avoid knowing who Tim Sykes is. There are some days when I feel like saying that my claim to fame is that I'm the only blogger on earth that he hasn't offered a free copy of his book to review.

Regardless, he's got a newish post that will undoubtedly be linked by mortgage-crisis blogs across the land.

Tim Sykes: Trial By Economic Jury: Are You Innocent Or Guilty?

Now it’s time you pay for your sins. Now it’s time you learn how dangerous leverage can be. Now it’s time you see just how illiquid real estate can be. Now it’s time you realize how Wall Street works. Now it’s time to attend Economics 101 taught by the professor himself, Mr. Supply and Demand, and his TA, Mr. Margin Call. Now it’s time you sit front and center—unable to doze off—because the presentation is your financial future going up in smoke.

Is he right because he's part genius/part madman, or is he right in the same way that it's easy to be a Cassandra ex post? That's a very good question.
