Reckless gossip that probably nobody but me cares about: Yamaha climbing into bed with Sony Blu-ray

In this week's CE Pro article, I reported on the opinion that the lack of buy-in from major hi-fi companies was hindering the adoption of both Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

Well, it has come to my attention from a very reliable source that Yamaha is quietly working on a Blu-ray player, and intends to lend their support to the format.

Don't expect a big public announcement just yet, their anticipated timetable is a Spring 2008 launch.

You heard it here first!

I can't wait to ruin my Yamaha rep's "big announcement".
If it's anything like their other players, it'll be a slow moving dog.
