Will the last person at Sony please turn out the lights

TWICE: Glitch Hobbles Several Sony Still Cameras

San Diego — Fresh on the heels of a highly publicized burning battery recall, Sony announced that eight camera models could suffer from faulty image sensors.
The problem involves the bonding on the CCD and results in an inability to properly display images on the camera’s LCD screen. A similar issue arose in
October 2005, and involved not just Sony cameras but Sony-manufactured CCDs used in third-party digital cameras.
A Sony spokesperson said the company was not aware of any issues in third-party cameras this time around, adding that the problem is more likely to rear its head in hot and humid climates and impacts a very small fraction of models sold in the United States.

Recalls happen all the time. It happens to almost every company, at some point. But when a manufacturer has nothing but bad news, month after month for a whole year, people start to talk.

If you believe that once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and five times is enemy action, Sony needs to either call in exterminators to spray their factories for gremlins, or a witch doctor, in case all these crises stem from a senior exec angering a spiteful polynesian volcano god whilst on holidays in the South Seas.

I love the "enemy action" image, but it could also be time for executives at Sony to consider the famous line from Pogo: "We have met the enemy and it is us."
