A&B Sound Joins Dumoulin/Audiotronic

Marc Mercier, President and CEO of Groupe Dumoulin/Audiotronic informed Marketnews exclusively that A&B Sound has joined the group in a strategic alliance under the Audiotronic partnership program. “We have been planning this for some time,” said Mercier, “and have decided there is no better time than now to execute. With A&B Sound joining us, Audiotronic’s presence in Western Canada is greatly expanded.”

This move is surprising, and yet, it ought not to be. Computer maker Seanix sort of made an impulsive purchase when they bought A&B Sound out of bankruptcy three years ago. At the time they didn't really have anybody in their management ranks with retail know-how. That they have rightsized A&B Sound, and done as well as they have is testiment to the hard work they put in to the brand. I don't doubt that there were many sleepless nights, grey hairs, and fallout along the way.

Partnering with Goupe Dumoulin/Audiotronic increases their buying power, as well as their clout with vendors, not to mention all sorts of other worthwhile things, like co-op advertising. I think this is a good deal for both parties.
