Telus TV even further behind the 8-Ball than I thought

I've quipped more than once that we're living in a crazy age of convergence, where the Cable TV company is offering you phone service, the phone company is offering you broadcast TV, and everyone is offering you highspeed internet.

In the past I've mocked phone company Telus' semi-lame efforts to get into the broadcast TV business. I'll admit that I hadn't been keeping close tabs on what they were up to lately. Until now.

Just got this in my email from one of my regular correspondants:

Hi,
You might be interested, but unsurprised, to learn that an early adopter of Telus TV in our building has returned to Shaw. After what she described as 18 months of promises that a PVR would be forthcoming from Telus, she gave up. She loves the PVR, not least for the pause button.

Telus TV doesn't even have a PVR yet? In the A/V and CE business world, there's a very specific term that deals with this sort of situation. It's called "Are you fucking kidding me?"

See, here's the thing. Virtually nobody watches live TV anymore. We've all been spoiled by saving shows to the hard drive on our PVR, and watching what we want, when we want it. If anybody from Telus is reading, have you got that straight? Good.

Now, if you are a broadcaster, and you don't have a PVR to offer your customers, give your head a shake, and get on it.

I signed up with Telus in December 2005 & they promised HD content by April 2006.....I'm still waiting & cannot get an answer from anyone at Telus as to when it will be available. Stupid me! I signed a 3 year contract because I hated the (non)service I was getting from Shaw. I should have gone to satellite!
