Personally, I hate security jobs. There, I said it.

You'er writing the truth, Lee.

No one is ever really, really proud of their Swiss Army Knife.

Try to be all things any you can't be anything exceptional. The real art of business is knowing what you can really do well and what you have no business even trying to do.

Life is like that too.

As the Bard of Avon would say, "To thine own self be true."

Lee,

Read your article, very good.

Here is a different perspective on security cameras in the workplace. I work at a foundry - a place with molten metal and machinery that could quickly and easily kill a person whose head isn't in the game.

We have an extensive CCTV camera network feeding a 2TB disk array. The primary purpose is to let everyone know, that we are watching you WORK SAFELY!

If you aren't working safely, we have it on tape and you will get reprimanded or fired. Everyone should go home from a day's work in the same manner in which they arrived. Horseplay can not be tolerated in our environment neither can an employee who isn't aware of his or her surroundings.

When an accident occurs, it is studied and we implement measures to keep it from happening again.

Our workman's comp rating is well below 1.0, which for a foundry, is outstanding and it is our belief that the eye in the sky significantly contributes to our safe environment.
