Despite the fact that I have been very vocal in a number of venues about the shortcomings of the iPod, and how remarkable it's ascension to consumer ubiquity has been, it feels ironic to have to now admit this.
I own an iPod.
There, I've said it. Two weeks ago I joined the Armies of Darkness when I received an 80Gig iPod as a gift.
I admit that I haven't been welded to it 24/7 for the last two weeks. But I've played with it some, and while it works fine, and the navigation is easy enough to master, I don't understand why Apple fans are so mental over it. Is it me? Am I at fault for not being receptive to having a piece of equipment fill a hole, jigsaw-like in my life?
Maybe I need to drink more of the Kool-Aid, I don't know.
What I do know is that I am unimpressed with iTunes as a music player on my PC. It came with my XP bundle when I bought this PC last year, but I never much bothered with it, since I've used MusicMatch Jukebox on both this computer and the last one, and I stuck with what I'm used to.
I find iTunes really drags on my system resources, and song skip like heck. Granted I am a notorious multitasker. At the moment, I only have four windows open as I write this, which is low, for me. I've never had an issue with MusicMatch skipping and lagging, even on my antiquated old PC that I bought in 2000, and retired last year.
As long as other people find that Apple and its products fill something in their lives that wasn't there before, I won't judge them. But I don't think you will see me attending services this Sunday.

Me and the cult of the iPod: the Kool-Aid may be Apple flavored, but it still tastes funny

damn straight you should judge them, mac heads are annoying
There is nothing special about an i-pod except they are an mp3 player, just like any other one but for the mac crowd who apparently do not like the corporate world because it has no soul they are willing to let apple dictate everything they do with their products.
i-tunes is a poor program, media player is a better program, less problems, you cannot plug your i-pod into someone elses computer , it trys to erase it, everything is a hassle with apple products but the kool aid drinkers lap it up
